Details

Does not include absorbency (a cloth diaper Cover is purely a water-resistant diaper shell; it contains no absorbency, so be sure to add your favorite absorbent material before use, such as our snap-in Lalabye Baby Bamboo Inserts, Stay Dry Bamboo Inserts, or LalaLu Fitted, or other prefolds, flats, preflats, or flour sack towels)

• Water-resistant exterior keeps messes contained and baby's clothes dry while providing a wipeable interior

Signature rainbow waist snaps color code baby's fit settings for quick and easy diaper changes and make it easy to remember and share with all of your baby’s caregivers for a great fit every time

• Softly bound leg and back elastics are great for babies with sensitive skin and provide a comfortable, gentle fit while keeping messes contained

Interior snaps at the front and back of the interior to accommodate our snap-in Bamboo or Stay Dry Bamboo inserts (sold separately).

Durable snap closures at the waist and hips keep diapers on active babies and toddlers

Interior water-resistant bands at the back and front prevent leaks at the tummy and back; perfect for tummy or back sleepers and keeps the umbilical cord area dry for newborns

• Hip snaps (in addition to the waist snaps) allow you to adjust the fit to accommodate various shapes and sizes as the baby grows, like tiny waists, chunky thighs, big baby bellies, and narrow skinny legs, etc.

• Crossover snaps on the tab allow you to snap the waist size extra small for newborn babies or to secure a wrapped up dirty diaper when on the go

How It Fits

Lalabye Baby Covers are a one-size diapering system designed to fit from birth to potty training (approximately +/-  8 to 35 pounds). Rise snaps adjust the length of the diaper and hip and waist snaps adjust the width to fit extra small (newborn), small, medium, and large sizes and a variety of body shapes and sizes.

One Size Covers FAQs

What do "cover", "pocket", "OS/one size", and "2-in-1" mean?

A cloth diaper Cover is purely a water-resistant diaper shell and contains no absorbency. You must lay absorbent inserts or material inside the Cover or wrap the Cover over-top a Fitted diaper to use it as a diaper.

A pocket cloth diaper is one you can stuff the inserts inside. Our One Size (2-in-1) is a pocket diaper.

OS/One Size means the diaper will adjust to fit from newborn to toddler; you don't have to buy additional diapers for each size.

2-in-1 means that our One Size (2-in-1) cloth diaper can be used two ways: you can 1. stuff the inserts into the pocket or 2. snap the inserts on top. This gives you options to switch things up throughout your cloth diapering journey and add absorbency how and where your baby needs it.

Why choose Covers over One Size (2-in-1)?

The two main reasons families choose Covers and inserts over a 2-in-1 style or a pocket style or an all-in-one style diaper are: 1. Cost and 2. Preference.

Since Covers have no interior fabric sewn to the shell, you can usually switch out the soiled inserts, wipe the Cover's interior, and reuse the same Cover for up to 3 or 4 diaper changes. This means you would need to purchase fewer Covers than One Size (2-in-1), making Covers the most affordable way to cloth diaper. (Purchasing 30 inserts and 10 Covers is much less expensive than 30 One Size (2-in-1) cloth diapers!)

How many Covers do I need?

Since Covers have no interior fabric sewn to the shell, you can usually switch out the soiled inserts, wipe the Cover's interior, and reuse the same Cover for up to 3 or 4 diaper changes.

If you plan to use Covers full time from birth until potty training, you will want to have 8-10 Covers and 24-30 changes worth of absorbency (ex: 25-30 snap-in Bamboo insert sets, flour sack towels, prefolds, etc.) If you are going through 4-5 Covers a day during the newborn stage and washing every other day, it stands to reason that you would need around 10 Covers to cloth diaper full time. Having a few to spare never hurts either!

If you are beginning your cloth diaper journey later than the newborn stage, this number decreases. See our handy chart for more info!

How many inserts should I get?

Since Covers have no interior fabric sewn to the shell, you can usually switch out the soiled inserts, wipe the Cover's interior, and reuse the same Cover for up to 3 or 4 diaper changes.

If you plan to use Covers full time from birth until potty training, you will want to have 8-10 Covers and 24-30 changes worth of absorbency (ex: 24-30 snap-in Bamboo insert sets, flour sack towels, prefolds, etc.) If you are changing diapers 12-15 times a day during the newborn stage and washing every other day, it stands to reason that you would need around 24-30 changes worth of absorbency.

If you are beginning your cloth diaper journey later than the newborn stage, this number decreases. See our handy chart for more info!

What are my absorbency options?

See our easy to read absorbency chart here.

1 small Lalabye Baby Bamboo insert gives you approximately 4 oz of absorbency

1 small + 1 large Lalabye Baby Bamboo inserts together gives you approximately 12 oz of absorbency

You can also get different absorbency in specific areas by folding the inserts where you need more. You can learn more about how to do that here.

Have a heavy wetter?

You can also add an insert like our Lalabye Baby Hemp Insert underneath the Lalabye Baby Bamboo inserts to gain an additional 14 oz or use a Lalabye Baby LalaLu Fitted instead for a whopping 28 oz of absorbency!

You can also use flour sack towels (FSTs), prefolds, preflats, flats, and more to provide absorbency in your Covers.
